Bench ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Bench mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect a device identifier for anonymous authentication. If you choose to link an account, we may collect your email address and authentication credentials through Apple Sign-In or email-based login.

Coaching Data

We store your coaching sessions, messages, outcome cards, and any preferences you configure. This data is used to provide personalized coaching and improve your experience over time.

Onboarding Profile

During onboarding, you may provide information about your values, goals, preferences, and self-assessments. This is used to calibrate coaching recommendations and personalize your experience.

Health Data

If you opt in to health integrations (Apple Health, Oura Ring), we receive health metrics such as sleep, activity, and readiness scores. This data is used solely to provide contextual coaching and is never sold or shared with third parties.

Third-Party Integrations

If you connect services like Notion, we access only the pages and data you explicitly authorize. Integration data is used to enrich your coaching context and can be disconnected at any time.

Usage Data

We collect anonymized analytics data including session frequency, feature usage, and app performance metrics to improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Personalize coaching responses and recommendations
  • Generate outcome cards and track your progress
  • Send push notifications you have opted into
  • Process subscription payments through our payment provider
  • Analyze usage trends to improve the product

4. AI Processing

Your messages are processed by third-party AI models (via OpenRouter) to generate coaching responses. We do not use your conversations to train AI models. Conversations are transmitted securely and are not retained by AI providers beyond the immediate request.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (PostgreSQL) and Railway. We use encryption in transit (TLS) and follow industry-standard security practices. While no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, we strive to protect your personal information.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who assist in operating the Service (hosting, AI processing, payment processing, analytics)
  • Legal authorities when required by law or to protect our rights

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Disconnect third-party integrations at any time
  • Opt out of push notifications
  • Export your coaching data

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
